Led a team of 10 backend engineers and 6+ services that enable the reliable, effective operation of Securonix’s dataanalytics team.- Providing technical leadership to the team to implement a proper SDLC process across the engineering org.Concepts such as unit tests and code coverage, PR templates and code review standards, architecturediagrams, and other documentation were added to the development process.- Partnered with the agile team to introduce and implement the agile process within my team and across theengineering org as a whole. Scrum ceremonies such as two week sprints, sprint planning, sprintretrospectives, daily standups, etc. were put in place for the first time. All work is tracked using Jira epics andtickets.

Led a team of 12 backend engineers and 6+ services that enable the reliable, effective operation of Mandiant’sSaaS platform, Mandiant Advantage.- Partnered with the agile team to introduce and implement the agile process within my team providing abetter cadence with improved project planning and tracking. Robust roadmaps were implemented and twoweek sprints properly planned and tracked using Jira.- Collaborated with senior management, product managers, and product owners to build and prioritizeroadmaps. During this process we worked together to manage new features, tech debt, and resources to builda plan that achieved consensus. With roadmaps in place, I worked with the product owner and engineers tobuild out project plans and resource estimates to feed into sprint planning.- Drove development and career path discussion with team members to enable a robust talent pipeline withinthe team. Provided opportunities for team members to develop architecture and presentation skills, withexposure to senior leadership to pitch new projects. Developed projects to enable team members to beexposed to technical leadership roles, providing coaching to ensure project success.- Continued technical leadership to ensure project and overall team success. Coach team on technicalchallenges and provide feedback through contributions to code reviews. Setup bi-weekly team meetings toprovide a forum for best practice sharing, ideation, product and technology demos and other pertinent topics.

Working as a backend engineer using primarily Go and Java to support an API service that is the main data sourcefor Mandiant’s SaaS platform, Mandiant Advantage.- Enabled launch of Mandiant’s SaaS platform, Mandiant Advantage. Helped take legacy systems and makethem production ready for supporting Mandiant Advantage. This required increasing logging, metrics, andmonitors. A caching layer was also added to help improve performance until underlying performance issuescould be addressed at a later time.- Technical leader for an entire microservice platform that supported IOC (indicators of compromise) data.This architecture consisted of AWS Lambdas, EC2, Kinesis, DynamoDB, etc. that aggregated a multitude ofindicator data sources, cached them, and served them through an API. All the microservices were written in acombination of Go, Python, and Java. I lead project planning and architecture with the help of two otherengineers to successfully complete this project on time.- Mentored junior engineers to help them grow their technical skills. While acting as a technical leader I alsoacted as a mentor and spent many hours pair programming, writing documentation, and leaving detailedcomments in code reviews to help a few junior engineers learn Go and become better engineers overall. Withthe help of my mentorship, two of those engineers were promoted during the next promotion cycle.

Working as a backend engineer using primarily Go to support a REST API for a subset of InVision’s online designplatform.- Assisted in getting a suboptimal service ready for production use. The service was written in Go but had littleto no logging, metrics, or alerting setup; all were properly added to the code with graphs created in DataDogfor monitoring. Code profiling was performed to find and fix the major memory and CPU inefficiencies in thecode itself. Once performance was satisfactory, expected throughput data was analyzed to help predictproduction hardware recommendations and a detailed write up was created to share the progress with otherengineers and management.- Primary engineer for rewriting a microservice middleware from Node.js to Go providing a REST API for the UIto aggregate data from many other InVision backend services. The new service was re-architected from theground up allowing much of the data to be pulled concurrently.

Worked as part of backend team of software engineers to develop and support an in-house CDN and proxyplatform for frontend optimizations and caching for Walmart’s e-commerce websites.- Independently rewrote the backend optimization engine which is responsible for optimizing and caching allresources on Walmart’s websites using Go, MySQL, OpenStack’s Swift storage, CDBs and Redis. The previousengine was almost entirely written in bash scripts and PHP which needed to be upgraded to Go and includeunit tests.- Supported the maintenance of an in-house proxy which was deployed biweekly to approximately 200servers. The proxy was responsible for allowing other teams within Walmart to modify configurations forspecific domains within Walmart to allow for such things as internal redirects, modifying HTTP headers,directing traffic to specific datacenters, A/B testing, and many other options.- Worked with team to develop an in-house PCI solution to allow Walmart e-commerce to maintain credit cardpurchasing functionality during peak online holiday shopping in 2015. A solution had to be implemented in ashort time to further encrypt sensitive user information from the user’s browser to the origin server.

Provided knowledgeable consultation for the firm in any capacity required. Readily adapted to multiple newtechnologies and teams with minimal interrupt to new clients.- Supported the development of POPTags, a unifying product labeling and tags system written in ASP.NET forworldwide use at Ashley Furniture’s global retail stores. Created easy to use and intuitive user interface toallow automated purchasing and sales tag creation. Engaged global team during project expansion to Chinesemarkets.- Developed and Optimized CSET, an industrial design and sales selection tool written in C# with MS Visio andAutoCAD integration for industry leading HVAC Company, Trane-Ingersoll Rand. Came onboard the team nearproject completion, and helped lead framework re-factoring to greatly improve code efficiency prior to finalrelease.- Provided team leadership to software developers at Western Wisconsin Cares, a local service organization.Introduced and implemented agile development best practices and helped team develop necessaryrelationships with administrative workers.- Independently managed the needs of clients at Nesnah Ventures, worked in C# and SQLServer to manipulatenecessary data for use in their fuel tax software.
