Assisted Canadian Research Chair, Dr. Annette Desmarais on several food sovereignty-focused research projects which entailed conducting literature reviews, interviewing and facilitating focus groups, collecting and analyzing data, coordinating authors, and summarizing findings for publication.Research projects included:- Exploring the history of the National Farmers’ Union for the book, Frontline Farmers (2018); - Examining the gendered dimensions of food sovereignty (2019); - Assessing the feasibility of a locally-sourced universal school food program in Manitoba (2021 & 2023).

As the first employee, initiated, managed and grew FFC's core programs, including launching a cooperative wholesale distribution facility for 30+ farmers and developing a low-cost mobile market for food-insecure communities. Tasks included consulting stakeholders; assessing program feasibility; grant writing and reporting; developing logistics; coordinating, training, and supporting program participants; identifying gaps, and conducting program evaluation. Also, played a key leadership role in the organization, with responsibilities including hiring and managing eight staff, liaising with the board, fundraising, overseeing the operating budget and strategic planning.

Co-founded an English-Arabic summer theatre program providing newcomer youth a safe space for self-expression and a platform to combat harmful stereotypes. Coordinated the program and final performance, which included event planning, developing program logistics, writing grants and reporting, partnership building and leading marketing and outreach efforts.

Coordinated photo assignments including requesting media passes and distributing assignments to photographers. Part of the executive team with responsibilities including editing photos and captions for publications. Lead photographer on major assignments, including attending political press releases and producing multi-page photo essays.

Assisted the Program Coordinator with coordination and research-related tasks, including grading, collecting and analyzing data, and editing. Coordinated the logistics for academic speaker events and panel discussions which included organizing venue, speakers, marketing, budget etc.

As the World WISE Intern, I was tasked with organizing week-long events across the university to bring attention to global issues and international opportunities. Tasks included coordinating event logistics, finalizing speakers, panelists and trade show participants, fundraising and securing sponsorships, leading marketing efforts, managing the budget etc. I also coordinated a volunteer program which included coordinating trainings and workshops and managing volunteers at special events.
