Hello there! Outside of the normal 9-5 position, I'm currently looking for journalistic or editing opportunities, especially relating to my passion for Japan. I've travelled the country extensively (but there's still more to see) and have a passion for the culture, the food, and Shinto as well as being an expert on travelling while disabled. I've also got over thirty years of cultural knowledge, as well as a passion for all forms of Japanese media, from manga and anime, to games, music and technology. At the moment, I'm studying for the JLPT N3/2 which I hope to sit later this year.I'm an experienced manga adaptor (with over eighty volumes to my name) and always looking out for new, interesting series, as well as outside editing gigs. I have a wide knowledge of genres, specialising in supernatural/Shinto-heavy series, magical girl (mahō shōjo) and yuri (girl x girl). I'm used to short deadlines and, thanks to ASD I'm can soak up knowledge of any series/genre I'm not familiar with extremely quickly.I was recently awarded my second MA (with Merit) in Interdisciplinary Japanese Studies and I also have an MA in Classical Studies from the Open University. Yes, I am a mythology geek. You can find my dissertations, along with other academic papers on my ResearchGate: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Asha-BardonI'm a semi-retired journalist (specialising in computer games, anime, manga and Japanese culture) writing as Lesley Smith. Now, as Asha Bardon I write creatively, having published four novels and sold various short stories to semi-pro markets.
