I am a Master of Public Policy graduate from Georgetown University with an focus on education research and policy analysis. Being able to use an intersectional lens to make tangible differences in the lives of our community members is the reason that I got into this work. I care about the field of policy research because I believe that in order to tangibly benefit real people’s lives, we need to be able to understand the complexities and intersections of policy problems through data. I focus on policies at the intersection between educational equity and socioeconomic status. Prior to my experience at school, I developed the underlying data for 9 reports at the Reflective Democracy Campaign over the course of my 3 year tenure. In my Master’s program at Georgetown University, I have excelled in classes on educational equity in the public school sphere. The thesis project I performed in my final year of graduate school studied the relationship between educational outcomes of socioeconomically disadvantaged students and public assistance take-up rates in their communities over the course of 5 years. I have experience in statistical analysis, as well as using that analysis to work on program evaluation, policy development, and communication of information to multiple audiences. In my current role, I perform mixed method analysis and desk research on educational equity within the Charlottesville community and its surrounding area.
