Ashani Dasgupta is a passionate teacher, entrepreneur and researcher in mathematical sciences. As a teacher he has trained thousands of students for Mathematical Olympiads since 2010. As an entrepreneur he has built two start-ups related to education and technology.Many of his students are from rural India. Yet there are several others who have gone on to pursue academic careers at Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Oxford.Ashani is the founder of an education organization called Cheenta. It presently caters to 600+ students from all around the world. The team at Cheenta includes 40+ talented young mathematical scientists who are deeply involved in the teaching process.The vision of Cheenta is to build an education institution of the future. It proposes a three tier learning process at school level. These are olympiad, research and entrepreneurship. The key idea is, first students learn how to solve interesting problems (olympiad), then they ask questions (research), and finally they build products and services (entrepreneurship). This is partly inspired by the Sriniketan and Shikkhasotro project of Rabindranath Tagore.Ashani has research experience in Geometric Group Theory. He did his PhD from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. One of his recent joint work is published at London Mathematical Society's Journal of Topology. He continues to advise students on research at Cheenta.Ashani is also involved in developing adaptive learning technology at Panini8 Software. These apps are used by thousands of students all across the world. They include artificial intelligence modules, mathematical games and aggregation of high quality, passionate teachers.
