My role is to discover, prioritize and execute on meaningful process improvement opportunities for the Controller team.

I lead highly talented corporate accounting and SOX teams for Charles Schwab and its consolidated subsidiaries.

I had primary responsibility for the oversight of accounting, financial reporting, debt compliance, corporate tax and accounts payable functions, including managed domestic joint ventures and certain international affiliates. During my time with Archstone and its predecessors, I have been heavily involved in raising billions of dollars of public debt and equity capital, multiple IPO efforts and several M&A transactions. During my tenure, Archstone grew from an average-sized public REIT to an S&P 500 company with assets totaling over $23.5 billion at the real estate peak in 2007, at which time we were acquired by a group of private investors led by Lehman Brothers and Tishman Speyer. From 2007 to 2013, I was involved in working with our new owners, lenders and major stakeholders to maximize their investments despite one of the most difficult periods in the history of real estate. During this time, the accounting and financial reporting issues we dealt with were very challenging and central to stakeholder decisions regarding the ongoing viability of the business. Litigation support was a key aspect of the job which involved working closely with internal, external and owners’ counsel. I was primarily responsible for the quality of all major financial reporting deliverables, including administrative responsibility for more than 70 associates. I worked closely with our senior management team, my direct reports, department heads, various associates, owners, lenders and our auditors to successfully execute my responsibilities.
