Ashby Burks is an attorney and adviser to providers, lenders and investors in the health care industry. He has represented health care clients since 1984, and serves as outside general counsel to several health care providers. He represents clients in the purchase, sale or joint venture of hospitals and other investor-owned and not-for-profit health care businesses. He also counsels executive officers and directors on business strategy, corporate compliance and litigation.He has been the lead counsel on closed M&A or financing transactions throughout the US. Most recently, he represented Wellmont Health System in its groundbreaking merger with Mountain States Health Alliance to form Ballad Health. This is the first multi-state merger to receive federal antitrust exemption pursuant to state issued certificates of public advantage.
