I love design. I love its ability to transcend language, culture, generation and bias to surprise and engage; to convey complex issues instantaneously, to lend commonality to the uncommon. Of course, if you’re reading this, chances are you don’t need me to sell design, you need me to sell myself.We’re taught that design and art are separate disciplines, that design is ‘the distillation of information’ and art is ‘the expression of self’ but as a practitioner of both, they’re undeniably two parts of the same whole. It’s this dichotomy and refusal of convention that completely defines me both personally and professionally, continually striving to produce work that successfully fuses the two together, creating a potent mix that’s found myself and my clients great success.Conventional wisdom tells me to specialise in one area in order to sell myself effectively, but again, I refuse. Over the course of my 15 year career I’ve worked across a multitude of industries and disciplines – entertainment, the arts, construction, food and beverage, charity and education to name a few. Public and private sectors, business to business or business to consumer, the reality of successful communication, visual or otherwise is always people to people.Drawing on all these influences and experiences has given me a unique skill set and a deep understanding of design. Producing original, creative work that facilitates a human, emotional connection, never pandering to trends and always with style and substance. Design, copywriting, branding, strategy, marketing, web design, painting, illustration, with a dash of HTML and CSS for good measure, I’m a veritable one man army. I suppose my detractors might call me a ‘one man band’ but then so was Picasso!Talent, experience, hard work and love. These are what I’ve put my faith in and they’ve served me well. If you’re in need of a legitimate creative then I’ll make sure they do the same for you. No ego, no middlemen, no office politics. Just the client, the creative and the canvas – as it should be.
