AKEA Web Solutions, a global Web Accessibility Consulting firm in Lansing MI grew from a small local digital agency.Initially focused on Michigan small business web design and marketing services, we grew regionally - taking on clients throughout the Midwest US.In 2015 with the launch of our digital accessibility WCAG audits and remediation services, we quickly garnered national attention taking on large corporate clients and governmental agencies from Coast to Coast.This was accomplished through strategic marketing, the development of a vast network of accessibility professionals, and identifying and establishing relationships with key strategic partners.AND... constant, constant networking, presenting, attending industry events as well as taking an active role in the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).We had the privilege of helping countless businesses, nonprofits, global financial institutions, universities, software platforms and e-commerce companies bring their environments into compliance with WCAG standards.Most significant was our ability to service clients not only within the US but also internationally in Canada, Europe and beyond.The Internet and technology has evolved and matured over 30 years. For 7 years, EVERY 3rd Thursday, The Drinking Lunch (TDL, to the insiders) was Lansing, MI's favorite monthly business networking event. I created this event concept in 2013 and brought together key business leaders in the Lansing area to launch a casual business networking experience. My initial vision was a Mad Men style of suits, neckties and martinis. But let's face it, Michigan is a beer state. So the vision evolved.The goal was to bring Mid-Michigan business owners together for a relaxed monthly networking event over an afternoon drink and relationship building. We built strong partnerships with local vendors, brewing companies and event sponsors. Our long-standing partnership with Lansing Brewing Company as our exclusive TDL Venue was mutually beneficial as TDL brought in guests and customers during off-peak hours every 3rd Thursday.Thank you, Lansing, for all the years of support and TDL love, the business cards passed, the deals forged, and all the great memories and laughs.Cheers!

Working within MI Department of Education, Office of Special Education (MDE/OSE), I led technology and communications for the grant-funded marketing arm of Special Education grants. Specifically in the realm of information dissemination and web solutions, I was responsible for:Staffing of the technology and web development team.Creation of grant-funded client documentation, SOWs, project plans and communication plans.Identification and selection of 3rd-party vendors to provide for additional support for special projects and technical needs not represented within the existing team.Creation and publishing of RFPs for technical projects. Reviewed proposals, vendor contracts and vendor selection.Developed a wide net of education and special education contacts in the State of Michigan. Inviting collaboration, communicating our services and ability to add value.Performed client needs assessments and project definition which resulted in formalized design and technical specification documents that were integrated into the overarching project management plans.Project management throughout grant-funded client project lifecycle.Creation and tracking of project success metrics and timelines.Preparation and delivery of reports, talks and seminars regarding digital communications for small and large groups within Special Education.

This is where it all started.I spent 3 years learning technical business, both IT support and consulting as well as the software development process and project lifecycle. I owe a profound debt to Artemis for the foundation they provided me in strategically establishing and growing client relationships, developing my early business acumen, and seeing projects through from the initial concept to contract, design, development, implementation and client success.In my role I was heavily involved in client services documentation, scoping work and consultative collaboration as clear requirements and goals crystalized.Among many other aspects of technology services, I gravitated towards client technical training, proposal development and presentations, as well as the finer details of software architecture strategy and design.
