I focus on housing and equitable development through the lenses of land use, economics, and labor. For the past several years this has meant policy planning at the general plan level, particularly work in housing and environmental justice. I have also worked on several specific and precise plans as well as on multifaceted outreach efforts.In practice, I emphasize clear communication to connect complex economic and geographic analyses to the communities in which I work. I bring my experiences in journalism and law to the projects I manage. There is a tremendous responsibility when a community entrusts their future to us. I hold myself accountable to that, with a community's history informing the work and the relationships we undertake every day as planners.My particular interest currently is in the relationship between demographic change and land use patterns. As neighborhoods throughout the country experience waves of generational change, the built environment and zoning code are often inadequate for the lives and expectations of the residents they contain. I am interested in taking a multi-scalar approach that connects the neighborhood block through to international migration patterns. This professional interest is supported by my skills in urban planning, land use analysis, geographic information systems (GIS), applied economic and legal research, as well as qualitatively synthesizing historic and current social trends.
