With over 7+ years of experience as an advocate and policy consultant, Ashima is dedicated to strengthening the socio-economic ecosystem and creating equitable opportunities for all. Her interest lies in exploring the intersectionality between education, healthcare, and sustainability, and the role of youth, policy and law in leveraging these intersections.After her successful stint as a securities and capital markets lawyer, Ashima transitioned to the policy sector to further her vision. With a short yet impactful experience with the Ministry of External Affairs, India, Ashima started her journey as a fellow with Teach for India to work in a low-income community in New Delhi. For her work as an educator and changemaker, she had been selected as one of the top 12 teachers in India in 2021 to represent India in the United Nations.Additionally, Ashima co-founded a non-profit organization that provides digital health-tech solutions to marginalized communities in more than 6 states, and has supported over 75,000 individuals with COVID-19 vaccinations. She has also been nominated for India’s COVID Soldier Award 2021 for her work. Ashima’s commitment to social equity also extends to supporting inclusive development and socio-economic welfare, as exemplified by her initiative that improves policy access through a network of educators. Previously, as the Executive Director of the Future Climate Leaders’ Program, a joint initiative of The Energy and Resources Institute, she has trained students to develop green skills and knowledge for a sustainable future. She has also participated as a youth delegate at the COP27 in 2022 Egypt, and has been a key speaker in discussions organized by UNFCCC, UNESCO, UNEP, amongst others, emphasizing her contributions to the broader conversation on sustainability, climate education and youth empowerment.Ashima is passionately utilizing her expertise, skills and interests in empowering youth and low-income community members for a sustainable and inclusive future. Currently, she works as an independent consultant, offering her services in curriculum and program design, strategy, research and capacity building, and project implementation and management.Ashima is also bridging the gap for college students and young professionals to transition into the policy sector, and has mentored more than 1,000 students and young professionals in shaping their career paths for the better.

Collaborating with a diverse group of international knowledge partner organizations, the research-based FCL program is co-developed by TERI. As the Executive Director, I was responsible for:- Ideated and designed the program to dejargonize climate change discourse, empower students to apply their learnings to real-time action projects, and build a community of climate leaders in India;- Executed the program in over 35 schools in Delhi NCR region, with estimated impact over 60,000 students and teachers;- Curated climate curriculum, educational resources and capacity building guides to equip the youth with knowledge and skills necessary for a sustainable future and green economy;- Developed strategic partnerships with over 10 national and global organizations for providing technical and knowledge support;- Built a strong and credible network of climate experts and professionals, including from Indian and global Universities, such as Delhi School of Climate Change and Sustainability, University of Cambridge, University of Pennsylvania, amongst others;- Organized a side event at COP27, Egypt 2022, to showcase youth-led climate action projects from India, Turkey, Cameroon, Egypt, and Nigeria in the presence of government officials and representatives from India, Indonesia, Turkey, and European Union;- Developed relationships with UN agencies and foreign representatives to hold bilateral meetings at COP27 for future partnerships;- Produced a podcast to host top 10 young and highly acclaimed climate leaders from India to decode climate change, and to empower youth agency in climate dialogues at national and international platforms; - Designed IEC & outreach materials to educate, train and empower young students on climate action and sustainability. -
