BOILER OPERATION• Started stopped and warmed-up the D-type water tube boilers• Done water testing to maintain the boiler water quality by adding corrosion inhibitors, Amines, and sulphite • Done Bottom and continuous blow-down to maintain the boiler water conductivity• Done water column Blow-down on a regular basis• Opened the Non-Return Valve (NRV) for the boiler operation and closed for boiler warm-up with a valve wrench. Also, opened the steam trap line for the NRV• Understood safety measures for COGEN such as CO2 injection into the enclosure in case of fire, and the importance of safety pins (called shear pins) if the gas turbine acts as a generator• Observed the dry lay-up of HRSG by blowing the air in from the mud drum and drying the inside using halogen bulb • Checked for the supply of instrument air to control valves• Added bag of salt to the brine solution for zeolite regeneration to soften the make-up water in Sodium Zeolite Softening process• Started and stopped Water-cooled Three stage air compressors• Checked for any leaks in Feedwater pumps and cooling tower pumps PREVENTATIVE MEASURES• Added corrosion inhibitor based on the TRASAR reading in the pot feed and checked for any leaks in closed-loop chiller system. • Cleaned the inside of the enclosure of COGEN• The following preventative maintenance are done for the Cooling Tower1) Bacteria analysis using dip slides2) “Shock” feed if biocide is low3) Adjusted bleed time4) Replaced biocide and corrosion inhibitor chemicals 5) Checked for legionella • Checked the temperature difference across the inverted bucket and float type steam trap using temperature gun in the tunnel and replaced the bad ones
