Taking the lead in the business development initiative expedited the various approvals for obtaining mining lease in favour of a JV formed between TATA STEEL and MMTC for allocation of Iron ore and Manganese Ore. • The nine operating mines of the company were closed by the Government. As a part of the Raw Material Strategy Group lobbied with various industry associations like UCCI, CII, FIMI, ISA, TIO and advocated to the Government for opening of the closed mines. Obtained necessary approvals and completed necessary formalities thereby made the nine closed mines operational resulted in saving $ 36 Million USD towards import cost of iron and manganese ores.• In one periphery village there was no electricity and villagers illegally tapped the power source for getting electricity. Obtained necessary approval from the Government authorities and ensure supply of electricity to 97 economically challenged households and thereby reduced the theft of electricity to 5 MW per month.

Jindal India Thermal Power Limited was incorporated in the year 2006 to establish thermal power plants in India. It has established its 1200 MW Thermal Power Plant in Village Derang, Angul District Odisha State, India. Handled annual budget of up $100Million USD for clients L & T, Tata Power, Monnet Ispat, Gammon, Powergrid Corporation of India with team of 15. Accomplishments:• In charge of obtaining various clearances for Mandakini Coal Mines a joint venture between Jindal Photo, Tata Power & Monnet Ispat and Energy Limited. Obtained the Land, Forest and Environment Clearance for making the 8 MTPA Coal mines operational and executing the mining lease over 1800 acres of land.• With the help from Government Agencies involving the local community formulated the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act and ensuring employment for the 900-project affected and displaced families.• Implementing our CSR Initiatives, organized various health camps; developed facilities for drinking water, and cleared the drainage facility to prevent water stagnation for the local villagers facing medical, water and sanitation challenges. Project was well received by villagers and District Administration.

Accomplishments:• By effective stakeholder management and with the help from the local administration obtained requisite approvals which helped us to open 20 more green field coal bed methane projects and produced 2500 SCMD of coal bed methane. • Created a pro-project environment creating local employment policy giving 4 persons secure job per well, out of which two are selected from the land owner’s family and two are from the major stakeholder’s representatives. • To help local villagers with no access within 50km to facilities, created a “tie up” with the hospital and launched two mobile medical vans with doctors for treating the patients and round the clock ambulance facility for emergency cases.
