Ashish Dev combines professional and executive experiences in banks and as a consultant with his strong analytical background and thought leadership in risk management and regulatory matters. Mr. Dev has more than a dozen years of senior executive experience as a risk management professional and is one of the most published leaders in the field. Mr. Dev has been one of the industry’s most active contributors in the Basel process. Mr. Dev was a member of ISDA working group on counterparty risk (WGCR) and IIF working group on operational risk (WGOR) The Basel II IRB rules for securitization are calibrated to a model co-authored by Mr. Dev. The concept of correlation being a function of credit quality introduced in another paper published by Mr. Dev found its place in Basel II Advanced IRB formulae. More recently he has been active in the Basel II.5 and Basel III developments. Mr. Dev holds a Ph.D. in Finance & Economics and was a student of Nobel laureate Harry Markowitz. He also holds the CFA professional designation. He has been the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Credit Risk since 2007. In 2004 Ashish was the editor of a best-selling book on Economic Capital, in which experts from almost all the large banks contributed. Mr. Dev is listed as one of the most published authors in the period 1994-2006 in Risk. In 2009, Ashish was awarded one of the “top faces of operational risk” for making the operational risk discipline what it is today.
