Having had a childhood in an Indian business family, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the machines manufacturing wires and deals being made, I knew business and finance would be my cup of tea!  Under the vast amount of business acumen entailed through personal experience of both by my dad and uncle (owners), I instantly grew to love the idea of understanding the inner workings of businesses and understanding the ins and outs. Being young and naïve gave me the ability to genuinely be curious and ask questions. These questions ultimately lead me to read and explore, eventually to realize the five main parts of effectively understanding any business, as stated very nicely in The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman: Value Creation, Marketing, Sales, Value Delivery, and Finance. Each segment adds a key part to the business system, and without either of them a business wouldn’t be a business. Each turnkey throughout these steps ultimately led to turning something valuable (service or product) into a monetary amount. Finance not only became interesting to me, but also became a necessity through which I would be able to answer the questions of figuring out the inner workings of any business. I chose to explore the finance field and once I got my acceptance letter to University of Massachusetts – Amherst in the prestigious Isenberg School of Management, I was more than thrilled to declare my major in finance, with a core track leading towards financial analysis. Over my college career, I was able to learn about financial modeling and different types of analysis including discounted cash flow analysis, comparable analysis, and credit analysis. As my college career grew and I graduated, I am now looking to take my academic knowledge and keep growing it through industry experience!
