Responsible for the Domestic Services, Maintenance, Security, Transport & Logistic and Mailroom teams across our 4 UK campuses. These teams are critical to the operation of the University and as a team we are constantly looking for ways to improve the service we deliver. We also have a real focus on our people, seeking to create a positive working environment and offer our 650 staff the training, support and opportunities to enable them to feel a key part of the University family.

Including the project management, development and delivery of new build, alteration and refurbishment projects at The University of Nottingham, ranging in value from £50,000 to £20 million. Working as part of a team delivering all capital works across the University's four UK campuses, we were required to manage multiple complex projects at any one time. Key projects included:- A £7m new build research facility built to Passivhaus standards, the first of its kind in the UK- A multi million pound extension to the University Dairy creating a UK leading centre with innovative layouts and equipment to improve animal welfare- The £500,000 extension to the University Hotel to provide additional Dining Facilities- Multiple internal refurbishments of catering facilities, improving the student experience

Working as a project architect having graduated from architectural assistant, designing and developing schemes across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, education and interiors with an emphasis on high quality, sustainable design.

An extremely rewarding position working with deprived and challenging students aged 11-16, some with special educational needs. I was initially employed to organise the filing system, but my confidence, enthusiasm and empathy with students meant within one month I was offered a teaching assistant role. The experience gained leaves me with no fear to face any future team work, meetings or presentations - once you receive a positive response from students with the varied and complex needs encountered during this placement, getting one from a group of professionals will always be easy!

A very enjoyable time spent working as a part I assistant, where confidence in my own ability meant I quickly became a key member of design teams, working across the whole spectrum of RIBA work stages, with a variety of different clients on a wide range of typologies job sizes, from louvered doors to 120 property masterplans.
