I cleaned apartments and houses in this retirement community. I was responsible for taking the trash, wiping down and sanitizing toilets, sinks, counter tops, stove tops, ovens/microwaves, showers, and floors, along with dusting, vacuuming and making their beds/changing sheets. I had 30-45 minutes to complete each apartment or house & had to manage my own time. My responsibilities were not just limited to cleaning, I also had to report any damages and problem solve when complaints or questions arose from the residents. In addition to that, I also was responsible for training new employees. In this particular setting, I also became someone the residents could vent to and get to know while I was working in their apartments/homes. I worked in both the independent apartments and the assisted apartments, as well as residential homes on the campus.

This job was semi independent. I was responsible for finding the location of the houses I was working in each day and arriving at the time I was allotted. Along with that, I was expected to log my own hours and send them in at the end of each day. I cleaned newly built homes through the phases of construction and got them move in ready. The cleaning included cleaning out all drawers, cabinet space, floors, windows, window frames, tubs, countertops, appliances, floors, removing any paint from household surfaces and more. Anywhere the construction process may have made a mess, I was responsible for attending to. I had 2-3 hours depending on size of the house and phase of construction. I was here for a short time due to daily commute. Although I wasn’t here long, this job helped me grow tremendously and I am extremely grateful. I learned to strengthen my time management skills and eye for details. This job made me a better cleaner!

At this job, I was responsible for cleaning & replenishing hotel rooms. My duties were cleaning sinks and counters, all table top surfaces in the room, changing bed linens, changing trash, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning tubs, cleaning toilets, wiping down windows and mirrors, and replacing toiletries and towels. I was also responsible for cleaning common areas and reporting damages. It was also my duty to restock anything a guest might need in their room during their stay. This job was my first job and I enjoyed working here. The only reason I stopped working here was because my family moved.
