I graduated from Mayville State University with my B.S. Biology and continued on to complete my M.P.H. at the University of North Dakota where I began my public health career early in my studies. Currently, I serve as the Community Mental Health Coordinator for our rural county of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Mental health has long been a passion of mine and I believe in access to services for prevention, not exclusively as a response to crises. Education must be provided to promote the use of mental health resources among all members of communities, as my experience tells me that lack of knowledge and awareness of local resources and payment options are some of the largest barriers to receiving care. Additionally I value diversity which contributes to a secure sense of community to benefit individual AND collective mental health.
