The Greenhand Leadership Conference seeks to effectively teach high school freshmen about the California FFA Association and its benefits; while focusing on "personal growth, premier leadership, and career success". Conference season expectations are as follows:- Serves as "coach" role for team of facilitators and others as they introduce first time California FFA students to the benefits and opportunities in Agricultural Education, including SAE and FFA.- The Team Leader is responsible for coaching, student registrations, as well as day-of support and coordination.- Expected to guide the team through all facets of facilitation in preparation for traveling conferences, and fill in for facilitators as needed.

The swine unit at Modesto Junior College is the campus' largest student-ran livestock unit. The unit houses 50 sows and gilts, 5 boars, and averages 40+ litters yearly. As one of the swine unit student managers, my duties included but were not limited to:- Helps oversee the competitive swine unit from grower to finisher.- Maintains records and sales of show pigs, runs breeding protocols, and other daily duties.- Works with fellow managers and unit advisor to determine plans for genetic and herd expansion.- Comprises reports and charts using Microsoft Excel to compare service sire activity levels, farrowing trends, conceptions rates, and more.

As the Summer Scout & Research Intern for Dave Wilson Nursery located in Ripon, California; tasks include scouting for pests and disease in conjunction with the Pest Management Team and coordinating and researching trials in the Greenhouse Division. Daily responsibilities included items such as:- Scout greenhouses for insects and disease twice per week during Summer. Record data on tablet and communicate with supervisors on findings.- Work with Crop Inputs Supervisor to understand pest pressure and treatment.- Conduct research trials in coordination with staff using soil, water, tissue and inputs, present findings to company leaders.
