A Chosen Fashion Designer for the 2012 Fashion Show that will be held this November at Marbles Kid's Museum in Raleigh, NC. My designs will be auctioned off and donated to The Green Chair Project, a non-profit organization located here in Raleigh. The GCP accepts gently used furniture and miscellaneous household items and donates them to families in the area who cannot afford these luxuries.

Volunteered as a TA/Mentor for the summer STEP program hosted by NCSU College of Textiles. This is a main recruitment tool for the College of Textiles. My role was to lead a group of 3-5 upcoming high school seniors in refashioning old clothes into new designs.

This was an internship experience to remember and cherish forever! I learned how the women create products from start to finish using home-grown cotton, all natural dyes (from insects, flowers, etc;), spun the yarn by hand, and wove original designs by using a backstrap loom. I helped with marketing for the cooperative, coming up with new product ideas, translating from spanish to english for tourists coming by the cooperative. I also re-styled the interior of the cooperative to appeal more to the shoppers and display the women's work as most efficiently as possible. An unforgettable experience with unforgettable people!
