Acute Rehabilitation

Screened, evaluated/assessed, and treated a variety of children ranging from 1-14 years old diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Down Syndrome, gross and fine motor delays, behavioral difficulties, oral-motor and feeding difficulties, and visual perceptual difficulties.Assessments experience includes the occupational profile, Beery VMI, PDMS-2, TVPS, Degangi-Berk Test of Sensory Integration, Sensory Profile, and BOT-2. Intervention focus included: Model of Human Occupation, Rehabilitation, Sensory Integration (Wilbarger Brushing Protocol/joint compression/deep pressure, iLs therapeutic listening, Zones of Regulation, Alert Program), and parent/caregiver education. Designed and implemented individualized client-centered interventions related to deficits observed and assessed.Educated and instructed patient, family, and caregiver on the treatment activities and home programs to improve the patient’s goals and increase carry over with the treatment plan.

Evaluated/assessed and treated patients ranging from 13-65+ years old who suffered from a CVA, SCI, TBI, and oncology (brain tumor/breast cancer/colon cancer), MVA/pedestrian v/s car, and post-concussion.Assessment experience includes the occupational profile, 9HPT/Box & Blocks, Sensation testing, Trails A & B, MVPT, grip and pinch measurements with dynamometer and pinch gauge, PROM/AROM measurements with goniometer, and manual muscle testing measurements. Interventions include: Model of Human Occupation, Biomechanical, Rehabilitation, NDT, and Cognitive Behavioral/Rehabilitation.Planned and carried out client-centered OT treatment to maintain, improve, and restore function and independence with functional tasks. Implemented ADL/IADL function activities, rehabilitation and biomechanical techniques, and cognitive retraining to improve the patient’s quality of life. Collaborated with interdisciplinary team (PT and SLP) regarding appropriate care and discharge plan. Implemented an oncology program with an interdisciplinary team at a satellite clinic.

Designed occupational therapy interventions for a man with a CVA. Developed and integrated a client centered functional rehabilitation program to improve independence and quality of life. Observed and demonstrated the use of hands on tutoring from Physical Therapists and an Occupational Therapy practitioner who specializes in myofascial release. Applied the knowledge and integrated techniques learned from the PT and OT professionals into a home exercise program and evaluated and adapted the routine for continual progress.Constructed and designed new ways to adapt functional activities to increase independence.

Observed and engaged with infants and children who had been through a traumatic experience of homelessness and documented and planned treatment activities for future sessions.Lead stress management activity groups for older adults ages 23-65

Evaluated and treated Stroke, Brain Injury, SCI, Dementia, and Parkinson’s disease and set client centered goals and tracked the progress each week.Assessment experience: Occupational Profile, FIM, Fugl-Myer, Berg Balance Scale, Tinetti Balance Assessment, Mini Mental, sensory, vision, goniometer measurements, grip and pinch test using dynamometer. Intervention focus: ADL retraining, IADL retraining, compensatory techniques for ADL and IADLs, leisure activities, and social skills. Provided treatment to improve ADL/IADL activities, biomechanical, and rehabilitation techniques to increase independence with function tasks. Implemented and educated patient on a home exercise program to continue to improve their quality of life at home.
