• As a Shift Leader in the National Geohazards Monitoring Centre, I managed a team of three Geohazard Analysts. My responsibilities included:
• navigating external and internal relationships sensitively and professionally
• mentoring and training Geohazard Analysts, and managing the professional development of direct reports
• acting as the NGMC Response Manager during a geohazard response escalation, with a mandate for ambiguous decision-making when required
• Supporting the operational efficacy and growth of the NGMC as part of an Operational Leadership TeamI was also a co-product owner for the development and implementation of the NGMC’s tsunami software, TOAST.

• As a Geohazard Analyst in the National Geohazards Monitoring Centre, my role was to provide rapid analysis of geohazard threats, following a set of Standard Operating Procedures. Key aspects of the role included:
• Adaptability to rapidly changing and ambiguous circumstances
• Initiation and design of operational improvements and procedure review
• Broad and detailed understanding of New Zealand’s geohazards
• Frequent high-pressure high-fidelity exercising, and implementation of learnings from these and regular debriefs
