All duties required of the Volunteer Teacher Aide position in addition to:• Leading Literacy focus sessions for EAL/D students and students needing extra support.• Morning EAL/D reading sessions.• Library shelving and understanding of the Oliver software.• Supporting year levels Prep-6.• Supporting students of all levels and abilities.• Supervising duties at breaks.• Printer, scanner, laminator and copier usage.

• Leading and teaching group work activities.• Teaching, motivating and guiding students to complete their schoolwork.• Establishing and maintaining rapport with students, Teaching Staff, Admin and other school staff.• Upholding school and individual classroom values and policies.

• Assisting with and delivering effective, professional presentations in a variety of settings to a range of audiences including secondary school students, educators, career advisers, parents,and mature-age prospective students.• Interacting with secondary school students and parents/guardians to provide information about Griffith’s program options and the various aspects of life as a university student.• Delivering and assisting with informative campus tours.• Assisting and representing the University at promotional events such as Open Days, TSXPO, Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo, experience days and other special events.

• Running STEM club sessions for children in years groups Prep-Y6.• Setting up and introducing projects in a positive and exciting manner.• Explaining STEM principles involved in projects.• Developing and encouraging students STEM, critical thinking, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.• Explaining and demonstrating how to construct projects.• Listening and communicating with individual children and small groups.• Helping and guiding students with projects.• Communicating with parents.• Establishing and maintaining rapport with students, Teaching Staff, Admin and other school staff.• Ensuring safeguarding policies are followed.

• Creation of individualised curricula for students targeting the students weaker key concepts and skills. • Targeting skills and knowledge required of the Australian Curriculum of the students year level. • Regular diagnostic assessment of student skills.• Deep understanding of the Primary School Australian Curriculum 9.0 English learning area as well as expectations of learning of certain grade levels through the strands and content descriptors.• Helping students understand and confidently tackle their homework given from me as well as their classroom teacher. • Critically and creatively thinking of different ways to display information and to explain concepts; linkage of content to student areas of interest (for example, Pokémon).• Assessment and understanding of how my students individually learn best and enjoy learning most. • Creation of engaging resources and utilisation of others resources to compliment students learning at school.
