Coordinate opportunities for donation by honoring patient and family wishes while supporting the organization’s mission; ensuring tissue recovery adherence to FDA and AATB standards; maintain strict on-call responsibility; surgical recovery of over two hundred donors including performing physical assessment, blood draw, surgical removal of transplantable tissue including heart for valves, saphenous veins, bone and tendons with over five hundred logged hours in the operating room using sterile technique; evaluation of donor suitability through attention to detail; training of incoming staff in accordance with the standards, policies and values of the organization; performing surgical recovery of donated tissue with 99% success rate; completion and evaluation of medical charts to ensure timely release of tissue; key member of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) subcommittee; primary department educator; maintain surgical instruments and supply. Recovery of donated tissues in accordance with AATB standards including corneas, skin, bone, soft tissue, heart for valves and saphenous vein tissue while using aseptic technique; maintain on call responsibility while promptly facilitating recoveries under time constraints; obtaining cultures of tissues using proper techniques; develop and maintain effective relationships with medical examiners within the North Texas service area; training of incoming technical staff; over 500 logged operating room hours; recovery of more than 200 donors with low contamination and error rate.
