About Ashleigh Deluca

I was born in New York; went to high school in Hong Kong; did a gap year in The Gambia, Namibia, and Ecuador; studied in Australia during my junior year of college; and have since traveled to over 20 other countries.Aside from having the travel bug, I have always been an avid consumer of storytelling in all its forms from books, TV shows, and movies. So I knew long ago that I would one day become a professional storyteller. Now, as a marketing specialist with 10+ years of experience, I love every aspect of my job.In a nutshell, I harness the power of storytelling, audience research, and performance data to help brands elevate their marketing and communication strategies and better connect with their audiences. My particular strengths are in content strategy development, copywriting, SEO, video production, media relations, and project management. Most recently, I developed a content strategy for Temple University’s news center that used SEO best practices and trending topics to expand our brand awareness. After six months of implementing this strategy, we saw a 2,220% increase in news center article views. In addition, the strategy also resulted in a notable increase in media coverage of Temple experts.I am passionate about gender equality, affordable and accessible education, climate change, and issues related to women's health. If you want to talk about marketing strategy related to these topics, feel free to message me — I’d love to chat.Countries I have visited so far:Canada, England, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, The Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, China/Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Mongolia, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Singapore, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Tanzania, Uganda, The Gambia, South Africa, Namibia, Mauritius

This is a scholarship program that I established after teaching English in rural Gambia during my gap year before college. This program was developed to ensure that eighteen Gambian middle school students living below the poverty line could afford to stay in school through high school. Three of these students were accepted to over 10 American colleges with scholarships. The first student began her degree on January 7, 2019. She is the first in her village to receive a US a college education. From 2008 to 2018, I worked on this program part time but when our success picked up momentum in May 2018, I chose to take the project on full-time.
