I will be graduating in Spring of 2023 with my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Elementary Edcation from Lees-McRae College. I am seeking a position where I can leverage my extensive knowledge of child care and lesson planning as a teacher and eventually a director of a child care facility. In completing my degree, I have participated in an internship with a Title I elementary school where I have taught various lessons (to include holidays, health, and social studies) as well as worked one on one with students who require modified education plans. My primary focus in this internship is engaging in a meaningful way with students to ensure a maximum level of learning in an educational and productive environment. I strive to maintain a safe, clean and organized classroom environment where I can instruct students using different teaching methods. I recognize that in this capacity, I am offered the opportunity to interact with students and teaching staff to build positive relationships between them. I am currently an after school counselor at the local YMCA where I am responsible assisting them in a few differerent arenas; As a counselor, I am responsible for supervising children as they play and complete homework. We also plan and carry out organized activities for children to participate in. This position has allowed me the opprtunity to see the importance of interacting with children outside of a traditional clasroom setting as I often act as a mediator in antagonistic situatitions.
