As a Business Investment Officer, I am responsible for providing businesses interventions to support local investment and to encourage economic growth. I am responsible for providing an effective response to new start and existing businesses enquiries on behalf of the Business Gateshead Team.My job is to support the growth and sustainability of enterprises in Gateshead and ensure that investment and employment opportunities are maximised. I deliver interventions to businesses to encourage their growth aspirations.

I was seconded to the North East Technical Assistance Project. The NE Technical Assistance Project is part-funded by the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).The project raises awareness of the 2014 - 2020 ESIF Growth Programme with partners. It supports the efficient and compliant management and implementation of the ESIF Programme and ensures that projects comply with applicable law.As part of the North East Technical Assistance project, I provide advisory support to ERDF and ESF project applicants in Gateshead in order to promote the design and development of compliant projects at both outline and full application stages.

I provided pre-start business advice to Gateshead residents who were considering going self-employed and setting up their own business or social enterprise. I assisted individuals with business planning and cash flow forecasting. I also provided support with funding applications.I worked across various commercial contracts within a target driven environment.I was heavily involved with DWP New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) programme and was responsible for supply chain management, performance monitoring and the claim assessing and verification process.

Provided accountancy support to the Corporate Finance and Treasury Management Department of Gateshead Council.
