Ashley David Email and Phone Number
I am a PhD student at Stanford University in the Dauskardt Lab and an NSF GRFP Fellow, specializing in the study of human skin. My research centers on understanding the skin’s integral roles in biological protection and regulation, and how molecules penetrate the stratum corneum under the influence of cosmetics and UV exposure. Employing sophisticated tools like FTIR-ATR spectroscopy, I aim to make skincare and transdermal drug delivery systems more effective and environmentally friendly. Building on my prior experience with thermogalvanic batteries at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, I continue to explore new materials that can bridge the gap between energy sustainability and healthcare advancements. My work is dedicated to developing solutions that enhance human health while preserving our planet.

Materials Science And Engineering Phd StudentStanford University Jun 2023 - PresentPalo Alto, California, United StatesI am currently a member of the Dauskardt Lab in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Stanford University, where I study the biomechanics of human skin. My research focuses on enhancing cosmetic formulations through the strategic addition of polymers. Utilizing FTIR-ATR spectroscopy, I meticulously track how emollients diffuse through the stratum corneum—the skin's protective outer layer. My goal is to understand how these additions alter the skin's molecular structure and improve the delivery and efficacy of skincare products. This work looks to innovate cosmetic science and optimize transdermal drug delivery for broader therapeutic applications. -
