NYSDOT | Region 10 | Office of Technical Services - Geotechnical Engineering Bureau-Inspected, sampled, and performed sieve analysis on RCA stockpiles.-Assisted with pavement coring at East Hills Sub Yard and Rt. 347 job. -Used ArcGis (i.e. ArcMap), Google Earth Pro, BLAP (Boring Log Automation Program), and project plans to make soil profiles of existing soil borings, record their groundwater depth and footage, and mark their distances to proposed borings.-Used Site Manager and LIMS to enter gradation results and make allocations from RCA piles to ongoing construction projects. -Entered tracking faxes from suppliers about the RCA they delivered to different jobs in Excel spreadsheets.-Visited active construction job sites on Rt. 347, Crooked Hill, Barnes Rd, and Hospital Rd (on Sunrise Highway) to learn about different geotechnical items such as leaching and catching basins, drainage pipes, recharge basins, silt fence, RCA for subbase, and RAP for the base of the pavement.-Observed the operations of GPR (ground penetrating radar), which was used to search for pipes and determine if they were the cause for settlement/dips in the pavement.
