Throughout my professional and clinical career I have gained many skills and specialties.Early on in my career I aided in healthy attachment between mother and child, provided substance abuse and family therapy for high risk, low income clients. I furthered my work with substance abuse through working with high risk, lower income, homeless individuals. I then moved on to work with a First Episode of Psychosis outpatient program. In this position I counseled transitional age youth experiencing their first episode of a psychotic illness. I also provide clinical group supervision for unlicensed mental health therapists. I then took my career in a different direction to learn the ins and outs of MediCal documentation and billing by working in Quality Management and Quality Assurance. In this position I developed trainings and manuals to teach mental health providers how to properly document and bill for the services provided to clients. My experience led me to my current position as a healthcare compliance and privacy administrator for a health care agency that receives federal funding. In this role I provide guidance, create and deliver trainings to the health care agency staff regarding all things compliance. I also help prevent, detect, and correct issues related to fraud, waste, and abuse in healthcare through my everyday job duties.
