Over the last 10 years I’ve had the pleasure of working at Bottomline. As part of the Fraud and Security team, our goal is to support teams across the business in identifying, preventing and mitigating fraud or other potential security risks. My daily responsibilities include identifying instances of fraudulent login attempts, account takeovers, spoofing, BEC fraud, and social engineering across different aspects of the network. I assist other teams by approving documentation, providing assessment on a variety of circumstances and decisioning if and what next steps will be. Decisions must be aligned to maintain security and to eliminate possibility of fraud. We also help teams re-evaluate and create operating procedures to accommodate our ever-changing product and maintain security requirements along with operational efficiencies. Each quarter I get to participate in product development relating to my role, as well test product enhancements for quality assurance prior to release. Our goal is to confirm the new and existing features will behave as expected and to seek out, identify and log bugs and errors. It is important to go in with a “break it” and “explore” mentality to ensure we exhaust all testing scenarios. I work in a fast paced environment where strong communication skills, multitasking and accuracy is paramount to being successful in a quickly evolving organization. I am proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint. I am accustomed to using multiple cloud-based systems at once. Much of what we do is data research, science, and analysis. Making independent decisions based on the companies policies and risk tolerance is a must to be successful in my role.
