I worked alongside Dr. McGrath on his research analyzing state legislative committees and theorizing about how their structure and composition might influence policy outcomes. Our research complied a dataset of 15,676 committee-years across 50 state legislatures from 1996-2002 in order to accurately analyze the influence that parent chambers have on committee structure. Through this project, I have gained experience working with Excel and training in data collection. I was taught how to do basic coding in order to create complex graphs of our data. I gained valuable research and presentation experience.
