In the Spinal Intervention office, I obtain pre-operative and post-operative vitals for procedures done in office such as epidurals, nerve blocks, and nerve burns. I have assisted in trigger point injections and botox injections. My time spent in Infusion I triage the patients by getting vitals and asking questions set up ahead of time. I help maintain keeping the patients comfortable and relaxed. As the infusions are completed I remove IV's and collect vitals again. When patients visit is completed, I input the information into the patients EHR; including medications used, routes, times started and stopped, and how patients tolerated the infusion. In both offices, I work on patient referrals from incoming providers and maintain offive inventory. I enjoy working with my patients and have a special bond with each one. I recently completed 180 hours for my externship. While working here I had the chance to learn everything from filing charting to assisting with procedures. Some of the tasks that I was tasked with has lab testing on urine and blood specimens, I cleaned and step up rooms for the start of the day, the end, and before and after procedures. I took advantage of the chance to learn some of the instruments in the OB/GYN setting. I assisted on things like: Paps Smears, Annuals, IUD insertions and removals, Endometrial Biopsies, Colposcopies. I was able to learn how to use an autoclave to sterilize instruments. I was also tasked with working up OB patients. I took their vitals and documented them in their charts as well as any issues they where having. I made sure that all of their test and shots were recorded correctly and in the right spots, I also handled patient education. Any extra time I had in between patients I used to go through my notes and reinforce some of the procedures and studied equipment needed for specific procedures and looked through the exam rooms to see what all was needed in each room. I stocked any materials needed in all rooms. I had some extra practice with that when I helped move the entire office over to a new section. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there and all the advice I received from the clinical, administrative, and physician staff. Show less

I was originally hired to only handle Annual Wellness Visits for their Medicare patients. I handled everything that came with this visit, updating all information in the EMR, finding out if they are up to date on all exams and test, if not I did the referrals and schedule things… Show more While I worked in this particular office I was amazed at the things I learned to do. When they where short staff I stood in as a Medical Assistant. I did everything that the medical assistant was tasked to handle for the exception of blood draws and injections, due to me at the time not being trained in that area. There was days that I was the only clinical staff working with the physician. I absoltely loved this position because I was learning things that I hadn't gone over in my classes. The staff loved my work ethic that they hired me on from the precious position I held, as a Cognitive Testing/Therapy Coordinator, which I was contracted from another company, which went under, to work in their office.
