Verifies the accuracy of and processes financial documents such as invoices, requisitions and vouchers; codes financial documents in accordance with established procedures. Posts information from financial source documents to established detailed journal or register; maintains support ledger in accordance with established procedure. Prepares simple financial reports and balances daily receipts and totals. May perform limited amounts of related clerical functions such as typing, filing, and operating office machines.

Review computer input and output documents to ensure accuracy, review documents to ensure data is correct, assist facilities in correcting any errors on vehicle plate, sticker or title files, answer phones, use fax and copy machines, check error card files for any errors and correct as needed, work through email list and correct any errors pertaining to email request.

Schedule cases in appropriate rooms based on block or open time, ensure proper time allotments for each case, compose surgery schedule and distribute to correct people. Monitor equipment needs for each case to avoid conflicts with scheduling (microscopes, laser, video, etc.)Process additions, deletions and changes on the daily schedules with notification to the appropriate Supervisor. Attempt to meet the scheduling needs of the patient and physician. Compile documents and compose patients’ chart. Check in patients for surgery, verify information and make appropriate changes as needed. Perform reception duties; answer phones, send mailings, etc.

Answer all incoming calls, identify the need of caller and take messages as required. Check patients in, verify patient information and update information as needed, register new patients. Collect co-pay and/or payment at time of service as required. Schedule appointments for the provider according to provider group procedures, maintaining a high level of accuracy. Identify provider schedule capacity and analyze the availability for patient demand. Collaborate with onsite department physicians and clinical staff to align scheduling effort and assist patients at first point of contact. Request future charts, add ons, stat, etc. Pull charts in office if required. Compile office charts for appointments one day in advance. Document patient requests to the office nurse through electronic health record. Work the office bump list, wait list, normal and overdue letters. Work appropriate task lists for assigned providers. Maintain knowledge or experience in billing and insurance. Route emergency calls to appropriate nurse or physician. Request an insurance requests or approvals when putting future charts together.
