I am studying to be a Registered Dietitian, with an interest in furthering my education in biochemistry, research, and clinical skills. I have been in the medical field since I was 16, and while on active duty, I discovered my passion for holistic medicine, and specifically found drive within the study of nutrition. I believe in utilizing nature as a first line of defense and treatment. However, I also firmly believe that God gave us the ability to develop nutrition supplements, medicine, and vaccinations, so I’m an advocate for a balance between holistic and “westernized” medicine. I’m specifically interested in exploring how our diet could not only be a huge preventative measure of ailments such as T2DM and CHF, but also a way we can genetically protect our children from inherited ailments like autism or cancer. As science advances and we better understand the dynamics between nutrition and our genetics, we could enable individuals to take control of their own health, and eventually could even decrease the control “big pharma” has on the American health system. The emerging science of Nutrigenomics has so much potential to change the face of medicine and improve the lives of current and future generations. I'm blessed to have this opportunity to connect with other professionals who share my passion, and to meet potential mentors who can help guide me and pass on their knowledge.
