Ashley Dillon Email and Phone Number
For my undergraduate at Suffolk University, I studied psychology; during my senior year, I worked as a research assistant with the Neuropsychology Graduate students, which opened my eyes to a whole new world of technology and possibility. It was at this time that I had a strong, instinctive feeling that I needed to somehow be a part of future technology that could help change patients’ lives, even in the smallest sense.I have been lucky enough to work for the CNS division of Radiation Oncology at Brigham and Women’s for about four years now and am extremely grateful for everything I have learned and experienced along the way. Currently, I work as the Senior Clinical Coordinator for my team, and I truly love my role. I am able to build personal bonds with all of our patients, use my problem-solving skills in tough situations, and connect with all of the passionate medical professionals that fill the hospital. The piece of my current position that excites me the most of all is the new technology that I can see right before my eyes, changing patients’ lives. I have been able to witness the creation of the first MR Guided Radiation Treatment machine here on the East coast, amongst so many other amazing research developments in this field. It seems like every other month a new exciting, clinically technological change is happening in our institution. Again, I love my job, but I am confident that I have much more to offer in this field.I aspire to be able to develop treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy treatment that will be able to target the gross tumor volume, the clinical target volume and the planning target volume in a way that will ultimately spare normal and critical tissue, but in the long run will have the potential to prolong a patient’s life expectancy. My long-term career goal is to be a stereotactic dosimetrist and work on the most complicated neurological cases, which cumulates my interests in psychology and neurology. I have had the opportunity to work side-by-side with distinguished staff at a world-renowned institution and witness the transformative care they provide.Every day I am amazed at how far radiation technology has come in the short time I have been working in this field. I am excited by the possibilities of innovative, ever-changing technology that improves the way cancer patients are treated and their outcomes. I want to be able to show my children the amazing advances that science has created during their lifetime, and that I was a part of those advances.
