24-bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) (located within the Heart Institute) is the only dedicated, separately staffed unit for pediatric patients on the West Coast. We treat around 900 patients that are admitted each year, including children with the most complex diseases of the heart and lung. This year, our CTICU was ranked #3 in the nation (US News & World Report), continuing to make us known as a worldwide leader in the treatment of heart disease (congenital or acquired) and lung disorders in children. We provide virtually every advanced treatment for all heart disorders and defects affecting children.As a RN II, under general supervision, I perform patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with health care team members in the delivery of ICU level care. Bedside ECMO trained. VAD/Berlin heart trained. Assisted with bedside sternal closures.We are a 24 bed unit and was first established at CHLA in 1993. We care for children, neonate to young adult, with congenital heart disease in the preoperative and postoperative period.

SCH is a 254 bed hospital serving patients and families from Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Our surgical unit has 66 beds in which I am responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Participated in and completed 12 week residency program, provided nursing care for 3-4 patients per shift, worked 0.90/36 hours a week. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care, appropriately delegates and utilizing resources. Using the Nursing Care Process: I utilized my skills assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care while collaborating with the patient, patient’s family, and members of the health care team. Also used skills to communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully with patients, families, and members of the health care team.My surgical unit specifically focused on care for cardiac, renal, liver, GI, and transplant patients. While at SCH I have undergone several CE opportunities, one of which included becoming PEARS certified and continuing my BLS CPR certification
