Developed prospective hydrocarbon reservoirs in the Bay Marchand field in the Gulf of Mexico using 3D seismic interpretation and geophysical techniques.Edited well logs and tied wells to seismic to produce domain conversion velocity models. Generated and analyzed fluid replacement and AVO models to investigate amplitude anomalies and verify hydrocarbon presence for well proposal and asset marketing. Identified new reservoirs by integrating velocity modeling, AVO analysis, sequence stratigraphy, and formation evaluation.

Performed rock physics analysis and interpreted 3D seismic inversion data for a large-scale CO2 capture, utilization and storage experiment for the Southwest Regional Partnership on Carbon Sequestration (SWP). Prepared posters and publications associated with the project for the US Department of Energy. Trained graduate student researchers in geophysical modeling using Petrel software.

Used Petrel 2013 for geophysical modeling and 3D seismic reflection interpretation to construct a fine-scale 3D lithofacies-based geologic model of a reservoir and caprock system for a large-scale CO2 capture, utilization and storage experiment. Developed velocity models for seismic time-to-depth conversion and horizon interpretation. Produced suites of seismic attribute volumes for fault interpretation of a wrench-fault complex and for thin-bed detection. Used Matlab to mathematically predict the impact of potential induced seismic activity on the community surrounding the sequestration site. Provided consultation to the field’s operators and SWP’s risk management team. Worked in a team setting to integrate multi-scale datasets and deliver updated comprehensive models to simulators before deadlines. Trained students and faculty in Schlumberger Petrel 2013 software. Managed and mentored undergraduate earth science and petroleum engineering student researchers.

Produced and analyzed post-stack acoustic impedance volumes for Eugene Island in the Gulf of Mexico that improved upon legacy inversions. Designed structural fabrics for building model framework. Tied 30+ wells to seismic data to generate the initial acoustic impedance inversion model. Developed a team of earth scientists to test the validity of the inversions against well production history. Identified consistent artifact and modeling problems in legacy and updated inversion volumes. Researched and tested alternative inversion algorithms, and produced a final inversion volume without artifacts and with more realistic acoustic impedance values. Identified unswept hydrocarbon signatures within the inversion volumes for future prospecting.

Researched seismic exploration and interpretation techniques to prepare plans for an incoming seismic survey of the SWP carbon storage site. Researched site geology to aid teams in reservoir and caprock characterization projects. Provided field support for passive seismic deployment, CO2 ground flux measurements, and groundwater sampling.

Used a suite of geophysical surveying techniques to explore the Rio Grande Rift for geothermal resources, and map Native American ruins. Acquired and studied 2D seismic, magnetotelluric, ground-penetrating radar, magnetic, and gravity datasets. Processed, stacked, and interpreted 2D seismic reflection data.
