Contracted to lead the implementation of a new multi million dollar, multi year ERP system across over 40 companies within the Group. Established the project framework including budget, timeline, resource requirements etc. The Board placed the project on hold due to growing global economic uncertainty.

Motor Trade Finances Ltd is a very successful vehicle finance provider. Through a network of close to 400 franchises and car dealers, all of whom are shareholders, MTF writes over $500m of business each year.As CIO, I lead a team of operational support staff, software developers and infrastructure engineers with a substantial operational budget. I am responsible for setting the strategic direction of the technology platform to ensure that business needs, both current and future, are met. This includes a hands on approach to major projects and initiatives, along with associated presentations to the Board.I am very proud that my team has delivered business solutions that have allowed MTF to move even further ahead of our competitors, with an outstandingly positive customer experience.

Trinity Systems was a small IT solutions provider based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Initially this role was created to provide a ‘CIO for hire’ service to smaller businesses – bringing my strategic experience to a range of companies that could not support a permanent position. However, shortly after accepting the role, the Christchurch earthquake changed the business landscape in the city completely. Accordingly, my role became more focused on assisting small to medium businesses to get through some very tough times while ensuring their technology was up to the job.A large part of the role became day to day management of the engineering resource, ensuring both break/fix work and new projects went smoothly for all parties.

Gough Group are a large privately owned company, employing around 1,000 staff. Best known as the dealer for Caterpillar earthmoving equipment, Goughs also have a number of other businesses predominately in the heavy transport equipment and engineering arenas.In my role of Group Manager Information Systems, I headed a team of IT professionals who provided all aspects of the IT development and support. Operational issues were managed day to day by the IT Operations Manager, who was a direct report to my position. This allowed me to concentrate on the IT strategy, and to ensure that the IT department was delivering the appropriate level of support to the business. I was responsible for an operational budget of $4 million and a capital budget of $3 million.During my time in this position, I undertook a restructuring of the IT operations, merging staff from three teams into one unit with overall control. This resulted in a significant saving to the company as well as increased service to users.

Responsible for multiple IT projects across the entire Group. Also involved with non-IT projects from time to time, such as new premises.

Responsible for both operational and strategic I.T. direction for the division.

Responsible for hands on support of IT infrastructure and systems.

Logical Networks was a Cisco Gold Partner, specialising in networking and integration. My role was to look after the telecommunications cabling side of the business for my area.

Designing and project managing structured cabling solutions.

Set up South Island customer base for this cable/network equipment wholesaler.

Positions included Network Administrator, Help Desk Adminsitrator, Network Controller. All based around project managing voice and data solutions, and problem solving. Started in ANZ in a small branch doing general duties before moving into IT.
