Domestic Violence Advocate Through The Albuquerque Police Department Victim Assistance UnitDomestic Violence Resource Center Aug 2012 - PresentAlbuquerque, New Mexico AreaTrying to make a positive impact in people's lives in order to break the cycle of Domestic Violence. I go to work everyday knowing that although I can not help EVERYONE, I have the opportunity to help SOMEONE. Responsible for assisting domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault victims with filling out and filing restraining orders as well as serving them with assistance from APD. I also work as a field advocate on weekends, during this time APD calls me when a domestic violence incident occurs and I go to the scene of the crime. We offer assistance with getting into domestic violence shelters, transporting, bus passes, food boxes and gas cards. DVRC also offers case management, group and individual counseling, and court advocacy. We are staffed 24/7 and have a 24/7 hotline. Our office is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, after hours is when a field advocate is staffed. All of our services are free of charge.
