When you play the same note on various instruments, the sounds are uniquely different. By recording and visualizing notes, it makes it easier to distinguish between frequencies, instruments, and how the instruments produce sound. Notes sound different because of the general makeup of the instruments, pitches, tuning scales, phase, and from the difference in the overtones that are generated when the same note at the same frequency is played on various instruments. This project explores the difference between the same 440 Hertz frequency note on a trumpet, flute, ukulele, and a guitar through creating a visual representation of the notes being played. By making of visual representations in the way of a spectrograms and waveforms, it shows how the difference between instruments and the note being played is primarily the amplitude, overtone, dynamics, and frequencies within the same note.
