Ashley Ackerman is currently the Director of Programs, Training, & Education at the Ashland County Mental Health and Recovery Board (MHRB) and Contributing Faculty in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Walden University. Ashley is an experienced Professional Counselor and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Counseling and has worked as an Adjunct Instructor in the Counseling program at The University of Cincinnati. Ashley’s clinical specialization and research interests include meaningful work/existential theories of work, professional identity development, interpersonal victimization, crisis counseling, disaster mental health, and burnout. Ashley's doctoral studies included a cognate in multiculturalism and social justice, specifically focused on Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). Ashley serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Counselor Practice (JCP) and is a Past President of The Miami Valley Counseling Association (MVCA).Dissertation: An existential study of burnout in a sample of disaster mental health practitioners
