My Teaching PhilosophyDuring my time as a teacher I have learned a great deal about myself and about the profession. I have learned that to teach is to help mould the generations of tomorrow. To steer. In short, I am a teacher and I but guide your children. I truly believe that all children have the inherent desire to learn. They crave knowledge. My role as a teacher is to help them find that knowledge and embrace it, while allowing freedom of mind and of soul to flourish. In order for any student to thrive, a learning environment conducive to both knowledge and one that is compatible with students’ individual personalities, is vital. This is why I believe that creating a community for learning within the walls of the classroom is so important. Without the freedom to question, interpret and reflect of the days’ lessons, a student cannot conceive of retaining information. It must be made functional, reasonable and interpretative. Within this environment, students may develop their own ideas and opinions, but must always consider those of others. Even the youngest of students can conceive of goodness and inherent ethics of learning, and therefore, my classroom is a community that strives to create compassionate and responsible learners, at any age, who will grow under my guidance. It is a community where students are free to create, explore and above all, an environment where students are given the freedom to make mistakes, without which, true learning could not occur.
