About Ashley Neall
Hello there! My name is Ashley and I'm deeply passionate about XR. My interests span all sensory domains within XR: visual, audio, haptic, gustatory, and olfactory. Dedicated to augmenting immersion through multisensory interfaces, I design and develop XR experiences from both software and hardware perspectives. I envision a future where immersive sensation enhances telepresence – improving interaction, cognitive function, and collaboration across all domains. My passion for XR began in high school, where I created the first XR student organization in North Carolina's largest county. As an undergraduate student at UNC, I continue this pursuit by leading our XR student organization (Carolina AR/VR) – which I revitalized as a freshman. I research within the UNC Graphics and Virtual Reality group while studying Computer Science, Applied Engineering, and Neuroscience. I also research am one of the Co-Presidents of Intercollegiate XR.As a woman in research, I'm an advocate for inclusion and education within STEM fields and the integration of the arts, which I believe heightens innovative capacity. Outside of XR, I enjoy audio engineering, visual art, and apparel production as hobbies. I enjoy learning and collaborating with others to benefit society. Thanks for reading, and feel free to reach out if you want to talk about graphics, human perception, displays, and/or research in general!
