Over the course of my professional career I have supervised, and will continue to accept, Recreation Therapy interns from accredited schools for their final internship requirement.

As the CTRS for a substance abuse rehabilitation program I am dedicated to providing quality Recreation Therapy services to active duty service members, retirees, and their dependents. I have worked to develop and establish a strong Recreation Therapy program to target a wide range of subject matter in conjuction with patient goals and objectives which aim to provide tools and information necessary for a recovery based lifestyle.

While working at the HSC Pediatric Center I provided one-to-one, group, and co-treatment therapeutic services to children with significant physical and cognitive disabilities ages 6 months - 18 years. As part of the rehabilitation team I conducted transdisciplinary initial assessments, developed individual treatment plans, tracked individual patient progress, and provided discharge plan recommendations.As the Community Reintegration/Integration Outing Team Coordinator my duties included managing a team of 5+ staff to plan and implement successful community reintegration outings. I managed all required documentation and coordination of family involvement and acted as the liaison to all departments involved such as nursing, therapies, social work, nutrition/dietary, respiratory, and medical.

Varied population to include: acute, transitional and long term care mental health services.I provided a variety of group based and one-on-one Recreation Therapy services to include initial assessments, progress reports and documentation, therapeutic recreation groups, leisure education, and transitional programming.

Setting: Adult psychiatry; acute, transitional and long term care. Serving patients with severe mental illness, dual diagnosis, criminal background history, and substance use disorders.
