I am interested in mathematical modeling and data science as tools for understanding and addressing complex real-world problems. Broadly, my research interests lie in dynamical systems and machine learning, particularly as they can be used to model social systems. I am also interested in how robotics interacts with society. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Social and Engineering Systems at MIT.

Student Researcher, Applied MathematicsWake Forest University Jan 2021 - May 2023Worked with Dr. John Gemmer on several research projects in mathematical modeling. Used nonlinear optimal control to study table top robots. Designed geometric stimuli and virtual reality simulation to study retinal optic flow in mice. Extended and analyzed the opinion dynamics model I developed as an REU intern at Brown University. -
Student Researcher, Computer ScienceWake Forest University Jan 2020 - May 2022Studied Deep Reinforcement Learning with Dr. Sarra Alqahtani in the Computer Science Department at Wake Forest University. Focused on multi-agent systems, security vulnerabilities of deep learning, and RL for autonomous vehicle control. Developed an adaptive exploration approach for UAVs monitoring deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest. Studied fairness and bias mitigation in machine learning systems. -
Teaching AssistantWake Forest University Jan 2021 - May 2021Responsible for tutoring students and grading assignments for a course in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Wake Forest University -
Summer Research InternBrown University May 2022 - Aug 2022I worked with Dr. Björn Sandstede at Brown University on a project studying online opinion dynamics. I was interested in mathematically modeling the mechanism by which social media users change their opinions in response to biased political content. I developed an original coupled partial differential equations model for online opinion dynamics and used this model to study how biased content can lead to polarization. -
Summer Research InternCarnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute May 2021 - Sep 2021Summer Scholar in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon. Worked in the AirLab under the mentorship of Dr. Sebastian Scherer and Dr. Wenshan Wang. Studied planning and uncertainty in reinforcement learning models for autonomous driving. -
Summer Research InternYale University May 2020 - Aug 2020Conducted research at Yale University through a National Science Foundation REU. Worked in Dr. Corey O'Hern's lab developing computational models to study the molecular dynamics of high-entropy alloys. Simulated the energetic potentials of solid solutions at varying levels of polydispersity to explain and predict experimental data on crystal phase selection. -
Summer Research InternWake Forest Institute For Regenerative Medicine Jun 2019 - Jul 2019Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United StatesWorked as an intern at WFIRM conducting high-throughput imaging research in Dr. Frank Marini's lab. Used multispectral imaging to analyze tissue for cancer research. Additionally worked on a project developing the inCITE tissue-clearing technique to allow for cellular resolution, 3-dimensional imaging of an entire tissue using multi-photon microscopy. Presented work at the WFIRM summer student research symposium. -
Student ResearcherWake Forest Institute For Regenerative Medicine Jan 2018 - Jan 2019Worked as a student intern on a project developing a prenatal cure for Hemophilia A. Quantified the increase in coagulation factor VIII protein resulting from the cell therapy. Later worked on a project studying the effects of muscadine grape extract on skeletal muscle regeneration in a rat model of Compartment Syndrome. Measured an increase in muscle function and decrease in cytokines indicative of inflammation and fibrosis due to the grape supplement.Learned cell culture, flow cytometry, immunostaining, PCR, and ELISA, among other techniques of biomedical research.
