The mission of El Centro de las Américas is to "Educate and Empower Latino/Hispanic Families and the Community at Large." Amongst my duties as an intern, I aid in researching the best practices for programming, help with bookkeeping for the agency, and help write and manage grants. Furthermore, I assist with festivals and agency events and complete other tasks assigned to me by the Executive Director.

I encourage academic and professional development of students within the History Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I plan events for members of Phi Alpha Theta and the History Club, and enthusiastically recruit students to join.

I currently tutor two students in beginning level Spanish courses. I have experience tutoring an introductory level Political Science course, as well. I build relationships with the student I tutor and strengthen my communication skills by doing so.

At Subway, I am able to build solid relationships with coworkers as well as strengthen my interpersonal communication skills. As I am in a position of leadership, I am able to exercise compassion and understanding towards those whom I supervise.

I directed group conversations in English with native Spanish speakers and learned a great deal about their Spanish traditions. I maintained a comfortable and positive environment for students there, and encouraged them to speak in English. I answered questions about American culture, and also taught them English grammar when necessary.
