Evaluate patients and diagnose multiple skin conditions, order laboratory studies, and perform procedures such as shave/punch biopsies, ED&C, I&D, and suturing.

Perform physical exams, order and analyze patient's lab work and imaging, and medical decision making to provide the best patient care in the field of Acute Care: Trauma, Critical Care, and General Surgery. In addition, initially assess trauma patients as they come in through the Emergency Department, help perform and facilitate critical interventions, rounding on the patient during their hospital stay, admissions/discharges, and patient follow up in the General Surgery/Trauma Clinic.

The didactic year is fifteen months long where pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, lab assessment, differential diagnosis, assessment and plan are studied for many disease processes. Physical exam skills, reading basic imaging, and interpreting EKGs are taught during this portion as well as many other hands on skills such as: suturing, nail removal, venipuncture, injections, catheter placement, and lumbar punctures. The last twelve months are divided among eight five week rotations in the following areas: Behavioral Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, OBGYN, and an Elective which I spent in Electrophysiology Cardiology.

Coordinated all operations and functions of the second largest student organization on campus. Created, organized, and executed programs for all 6,500 on-campus residents as well as community events.

Facilitated a smooth transition to campus by leading tours and answering parent/student questions. Participated in credit earning class to increase my developing leadership skills, enhance personal growth, and learn about university traditions and services.
