Librarian
I completed a year as assistant librarian in the children's department, where I hosted a biweekly family book club, created exciting visual displays on a monthly basis, assisted in developing and performing in puppet shows, completely rehauled the children's department webpage, and took on Memphis Public Library's Twitter feed. As a librarian in the Humanities department, I worked with the Teen Team to create exciting and progressive programming for teens. So far my top moments have been making a movie for a zombie survival workshop with my husband and collaborating with Write Memphis on a five week Poetry Slam workshop and a five week Playwriting Palooza workshop, which was so good the kids didn't want it to end. Outside of the teen team, I worked with a team to completely rehaul the content on our department website. I collaborated with the marketing department to keep the conversation buzzing on the library's Twitter account and I was trained to instruct our diverse customer base download ebooks to a variety of devices individually and in a classroom setting. I also gave lots and lots of book recommendations. Need something to read? I'll give you a list.
