I am a currently enrolled in the University of Georgia MS, Horticulture Graduate Program. I graduated in May of 2022 from UGA with a Horticulture B. S. A. and an Environmental Resource Science B. S. E. S. For the past year, I have worked as a Research Assistant in the UGA Fruit Physiology Lab where I assist graduate students in research on proteins within blueberries, blossom end rot in tomatoes, and nutrient deficiencies in apples. I work to formulate stock solutions for experiments, extract RNA from blueberry samples, and create slides for microscopic imaging using a vibratome machine. At other times, I have analyzed data to create tables and graphs based on findings within studies that were conducted. I have a knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures within a lab environment. I am trained in use of chemicals, needed PPE, MSDS Data Sheets, proper chemical disposal, and ordering of chemical materials. I am also familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ArcGIS, and ActiveWorks Outdoors software. I have also worked as a Lab Assistant in the UGA Horticulture Physiology Lab where I also assisted graduate students in research projects, collected data, planted new test specimens, installed LED lights in growth chambers, and preformed other tasks as needed. I have had a passion for both horticulture and agriculture ever since I was in middle school. This was cultivated through my involvement with the National FFA Organization and has continued throughout the years. I look forward to continuing to grow my skill set to advance in my field.
